The U.S. Department of Education today announced New Teacher Center (NTC) among the 13 highest-rated Investing in Innovation (i3) applicants for the 2015 grant competition, from a total of over 400 applications. The $19.9 million i3 Scale-Up grant award would serve nearly 117,000 students in six high-need school districts across the country.

Today, the U.S. Department of Education awarded New Teacher Center a $7.8 million federal Supporting Effective Educators Development (SEED) grant to increase the number of highly effective teachers in Austin Independent School District (TX) and Volusia County Public Schools (FL). The grant will serve more than 92,000 students in Austin Independent School District (TX) and Volusia County Public Schools (FL).

Moir was selected for the Ashoka fellowship for her innovative approach to accelerating new teacher effectiveness – and with it, student learning.

Thirty schools across Singapore have started on an initiative called Skillful Teaching and Enhanced Mentoring (STEM) launched in July 2011 by the Singapore Ministry of Education, school improvement organization Research for Better Teaching, Inc. (RBT) and the New Teacher Center.
